One of my absolute favorite features of the German language is how new words are built by smashing two or more existing words together until you're satisfied.

Imagine instead of trying to occupy space (OWS) did we occupied our daily lives?

Stay with me now. I don't mean this in some feel good spiritual awakening way. Imagine if 10K people in your town agreed to share resources, go on rent strike together, provide services to each other, provide goods to each other, if the collective had any income that was shared equitably.

What would that be like? How would it be stopped?

tl;dr strong speech isn't necessarly inappropriate speech. Fascists don't count.

Mastodon (as a culture) needs to be more inclusive of people who aren't white, aren't male developers, or sometimes, aren't folks in adjacent subcultures. Including how they people "on the outside" speak.

In contrast, white male devs can say almost anything they want, including talking about tech with no CWs, and anything else they want to go on about, unencumbered.

yesterday apparently the hashtag DropTheT trended on twitter...

no doubt largely due to the efforts of bots, but for a reason. they knew they could use trending topics to send a transphobic message, to recruit people for transphobic purposes and remind trans people not to feel comfortable about being in the LGBT community and to be quiet and not ask for too much.

this is why people call it a tool of mass harassment and social chilling. we don't get upset over nothing.

Build a blanket fort. Seriously. Oh, and do not bring your phone into it.

it has the flavour of erasing queer history to make a political statement or identity politics now. and i dont think it serves her politics justice too to reframe it in that way. From what i understood, the forming gay liberation movement had the problem of any identity politics themselfes, meaning they were homogenizising by, excluding trans*, nonconfoming, too radical, too loud queens, fags, poor, hustlers, homeless, punks... .and so one; becoming "bourgeois".

its pride month, i saw the first "stonewall was a riot started by a woman" post with a picture of Marsha P. "pay it no mind" Johnson - "Pay it no mind" when asked about her gender.
Refering to herself as gay, transvestite, drag/queen reclaiming her as a transwoman is problematic in many ways. Overwriting her queerness and her role as a gendernonkonforming (fluid?, nonbinary?, trans*?) gay (man? or not?) to make trans*- or feminist identity politics is deeply anti queer.
