@paco I'm interested in this process. What I gathered was one needs at least one of the following:
* UK ancestry less than 3 generations prior
* An employer to sponsor you
* Enrollment in an accredited school
* A spouse or fiancรฉยทe to vouch for you
Am I missing something?

@qwyrdo There are different kinds of visas for temporary residence. Employer sponsorship, university, and spouse visas are temporary. I don't know about ancestry. There are also rich people visas. If you're gonna invest ยฃ250,000 or more in a british business, come right in! I'm going for citizenship, which is different. That requires living here legally on any basis for 7 years, passing a life-in-the-UK test, getting sponsors, and paying a hefty fee (about ยฃ1500). That's a very rough summary.
